The Strypes - An Introduction

Have you ever heard of the Strypes before?  Maybe you have.  Definitely if you're like me and you read NME.  But that's beside the point.  If the name is new to you, then let me introduce.
The Strypes are a rock and roll blues band from Ireland who've suddenly emerged from the dusty corners of Irish pubs and have taken on the world head on.  They recently got signed onto Elton John's management and have found fans in Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher and Dave Grohl.  Their debut single which was released for Record Store Day this year, 'Blue Collar Jane', propelled them further in fame and now they are one of the most hyped up bands in Britain.
Their sets have evolved over time; there once was a time when they would play barely any original tunes, and their sets consisted completely of covers of the Stones, the Yardbirds, Dylan and even Nick Lowe.  But as they've grown more and more popular, guitarist Josh McClorey has produced more original material for the band to work with.  And this is what's gonna keep the band going.
Now, you might be sitting there in your armchair with your pipe thinking "well any old band can come along and play a few tunes and have a few fans".  Well I haven't told you what makes the band so special.  You'll never guess; the band's average age is sixteen.  As in, one six.  Younger than One Direction.  And yet they can play just a well as any other geezer twice their age, and they have such an immense knowledge of R&B that they could put Jeff Beck to shame.
So if you're into the blues, listen to these guys.  They can take the classics and give it that subtle modern twinge; spice it up so the younger market find it as exciting as the latest Imagine Dragons LP.  But they stick to the roots and show no signs of wavering.  They strut everywhere in their perfectly taylored mod suits and rest assured that they head toward a bright future.
