Love the funky psychedelic sounds of, say, MGMT? Who doesn't? Say hello to Electric Guest, the new kids dominating the electro-psychedelic-neo-pop-indie-rock scene. If that's even a scene. One day, two boys in LA thought to themselves "I know, let's form a band" and Electric Guest was born. That was back in 2011. In the following year, they discovered a fast growing fan base and they soon found themselves being labelled as the 'ones to watch' in 2012. The group consists of Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, along with Todd and Tory Dahlhoff when touring.
Their debut album 'Mondo' was released on April 24th and just missed out on the top ten, peaking at No 11 (which was the same for my last band introduction, Palma Violets...creepy, eh?). It resonated the groovy retro soundwaves from 1973, and has an all-round coolness to it.
They're known for their spectacularly raw and exciting gigs, so why not venture to your local venue and catch them live? You'll probably be blinded by the neon colours shooting out of Asa's head.
